Mexico Honeymoon Vacations: Playa del Carmen

When considering Mexico honeymoon vacations, Playa del Carmen should be at the top of your list. The population of Playa del Carmen experienced a major explosion within two short years, thanks to the discovery of its suitability as a perfect vacation spot and honeymoon destination. While you could easily spend your time here relaxing on the sand, there are also plenty of attractions offering fun, excitement and romance.

Playa del Carmen is located approximately 40 miles from Cancun. Some vacationers enjoy the best of both worlds by staying in Cancun and visiting Playa del Carmen or vice versa. The main roadway here travels perpendicular to the beach and is lined with plenty of places for visitors to dine and shop. From morning until night, there is so much to admire and enjoy in Playa. When you get tired of the beach, the downtown area is a perfect place to shop. There are clothing shops, specialty shops, souvenir shops and more. In addition there are a variety of charming places in which to enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner. You will find not only casual establishments but also gourmet restaurants. If you love seafood, check out Las Brisas, a restaurant famed for its lobster tails. For a taste of authentic Mayan food, try the Yaxche Mayan Cuisine Restaurant located just two blocks from the beach.

After dark, you can head to one of Playa's hot night spots. There are dance clubs and even open air beach clubs where you can hear great live music, dance and drink cocktails. For example, the popular Senor Frog's is a bar with great ocean views which serves gelatin shots, while Bourbon Street features great live blues in a relaxed environment. There are bars located in pools and on rooftops, and even bars that feature Jacuzzis. There is certainly no shortage of fun things to do at night in Playa del Carmen.

As far as honeymoon vacations are concerned, Playa del Carmen is an ideal choice. You will find some of the resorts even offer special packages especially for newlywed couples. Many couples enjoy their romantic Mexican vacation so much that they return to the village of Playa del Carmen year after year!
